ARE WE THERE YET?
Are We There Yet? is a major research and consultation project being undertaken by Rick Heath and Harley Stumm for the Australia Council for the Arts, to develop a National Touring Framework [NTF] for the performing arts.
There are two distinct tasks involved.
- Map the Current Landscape
Firstly, we need to develop a map of the existing touring systems to help users and those who’d like to tour to find their way through the maze. This means that soon you will be able to easily access clear, current and practical information directing you to the right touring pathways for you.
- Pathways to the Future
Secondly, we will design a framework for the future of touring that is simpler, more relevant and more effective.
Let’s Talk!
Over the coming eight weeks we’ll hold consultations around the country to hear your thoughts about national touring.
This is your opportunity to improve the touring landscape in Australia. We want to hear from you, whether you are:
• an artist, producer, presenter, or tour coordinator.
• touring regularly, occasionally, or not at all but would like to.
• touring through mainstream touring networks, niche or specialist touring initiatives, or your own custom designed models.
We plan to meet with different sectors of the industry separately, so we can talk in more detail about each sector’s distinct issues and concerns.
Arts Victoria is already conducting a separate forum regarding statewide touring. We look forward to those discussions and using the information gained to contribute to the NTF consultations which will focus specifically on national touring.
