Australian Theatre Forum, May 2013, Canberra, ACT
The 2013 Australian Theatre Forum will be held in Canberra, during the Centenary of Canberra celebrations.
The Australian Theatre Forum 2013 is an industry event for professional theatre practitioners, producers and commentators. We welcome participation from all parts of the industry—independents and project based collectives, small to medium and major companies, producing venues and festivals. It is an event that will generate discussion around contemporary practice, policy, sustainability and audiences.
The first Australian Theatre Forum – in 2009 – was at Melbourne’s Arts House Meat Market, and saw a unique gathering of Australia’s theatre practitioners, producers, presenters and commentators come together to explore the urgent issues of our time and imagine possible futures for the Australian theatre sector. This Forum was the first time the theatre sector got together in this way for over 20 years and it is hoped that this was the first of a regular biennial forum hosted by different cities and towns across Australia. The 2011 ATF was held at Brisbane Powerhouse.
We are still in the very early planning stage, with an anticipated timing of May for the three day event.
